Since 2018.
On the edge of the Nieuwe Scheveningse Bosjes, on the route to the dunes and the beach, you’ll find Pompke. A warm, colourful coffee house with a jungle of plants and a gastro-style menu, where a dark café once served croquettes and microwave cappuccinos.
Pompke was rebuilt in 2018 by Diederik and Esther, our “Pompke Pioneer” who started it all. Diederik lives three doors down and drops by with his family every day.
Esther studied at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, makes art with the lino press and swims in the sea all year round. Her favourite Pompke pie? The date-peanut pie.
From our kitchen
Our pies, cakes, soups and toasties are made in one big kitchen in the café, with local suppliers. We also brew our own alcohol-free mulled wine.
By the woods
Come for coffee, breakfast, soup, sandwiches or cake. Children can colour by the woods, and there are hand-quilted blankets and heated cushions on the terrace.

Outdoor cinema
Every last Friday of the month, our terrace becomes an outdoor cinema. Heated cushions, popcorn and warm drinks. The film stays a surprise until the evening itself.
